Erika & Tim's Wedding at Barn 1890

"Baby, we've come a long way. And, baby, you know I hope and I pray. That you believe me. When I say this love will never fade away..."

Erika and Tim were married on a gloriously sunny summer day at Barn 1890 in Sellicks Hill. After their outdoor ceremony, they relaxed outside with their guests in the stunning, natural backdrop. It really is a beautiful and peaceful setting where the restored barn flows out to the garden, filled with native plants and gums. We were treated to some lovely acoustic tunes while we set up our gear in the barn's mezzanine, overlooking the table settings below.

As dinner was prepared and the guests started to amble inside, we bridged the gap between the acoustic artist and entrees with some gentle, soulful songs, such as:

"Miracle Love" by Matt Corby

"In the Garden" by Bob James

"Perfect Day" by Lou Reed (with thanks to Erika's mum Marika for supplying her original copy for us to play, at her request)

We love to incorporate your, or your loved ones' record collection into your special day. This provides a really personal touch and can evoke many happy family memories. So if this is something that you're looking for in a wedding DJ, please chat to us.

After dinner was eaten, guests had some time to mill about and enjoy the sunset before Erika and Tim's first dance. This part of the reception had a very casual and cocktail party feel to it and we aimed to hit that spot with the music, while also warming up guests for some impending dance floor action. Some choice tracks were:

"Treat Me Like Fire" by Lion Babe

"Gold" by Chet Faker

"Risin' to the Top" by Kenny Burke

If we can digress for a minute: when planning a wedding, couples often ask us what is involved in organising a wedding DJ and what kind of information we need from them and vice versa. Erika and Tim were happy to go with the flow and we had a few brief phone calls in the lead-up to their wedding. They offered us a few suggestions regarding the styles of music that they liked and we took things from there.

Wedding Dance

"You Are the Best Thing" by Ray LaMontagne

Erika and Tim took to the floor for their first dance as a married couple to this jaunty, soulful folk tune from singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne. A lovely and heartfelt song about each other being, well, the best thing!

Dance-floor Highlights

After the first dance we spun a range of classic wedding DJ tunes from the 60s to now and then spun more of what the guests were getting down to. The most popular vibes seemed to be 70s and 80s pop tunes, with a smattering of 90s and 00s thrown in for good measure. A few of the favoured tunes were:

"99 Red Balloons" by Nena - A request from Tim's brother to honour their German heritage

"Mr Brightside" by The Killers - A special request from Tim

Once the dancefloor gets going time can really fly! Before too long it was time for Erika and Tim to make their grand exit to "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" by Whitney Houston.

Thanks Erika and Tim for having us as your wedding DJs.

Erika and Tim said: "Thanks so much for DJing our wedding - you guys did a fantastic job and we had a really great night"

Marika (Erika's mum) said: "Just wanted to thank you for doing such a terrific job with your DJ set at Erika’s wedding on Saturday – music to get everyone of all ages dancing! Cheers"

We're available for hire as wedding DJs in Adelaide if you think we're the right fit for your wedding or special event.
